Rooted Horizons exists because East Africa deserves to be told on its own terms — not through a guidebook, not through a lens of spectacle, but through the quiet, honest, lived experience of people who call this land home.
We grew up watching the Mara change with the seasons, eating nyama choma by the roadside, and learning the names of birds before we learned to drive. This is not a business built on research — it is built on memory, love and belonging.
We believe the real Africa — the one locals know and love — is more breathtaking than any itinerary could capture. Our job is to close the gap between the Africa tourists expect and the Africa that actually exists, wild and full and alive.
Every journey we design asks one question: does this leave the land, the wildlife and the community better than we found it? Responsible travel is not a premium add-on — it is the only way we know how to move through this place we love.
Our Vision
The safari industry has long treated East Africa as a backdrop for adventure. We are building something different — a touring company where the land, the wildlife and the people who live alongside them are always the point, never just the scenery.
We work exclusively with locally-owned lodges, Kenyan and Tanzanian guides, and community-run conservancies.
We refuse to run the same route for every group. Your journey is designed around you, from the first conversation.
